The role of ECMWF in DestinE

Destination Earth (DestinE) is the European Union’s initiative to create a digital replica of our planet to better predict and respond to environmental challenges posed by extreme events and climate change. It is implemented over several phases by three entities, the ECMWF, ESA and EUMETSAT, each responsible for delivering specific components of the system. In this video, the ECMWF Director of DestinE, Irina Sandu, introduces how DestinE stands for a novel information system and presents the main features of the two high priority digital twins developed at ECMWF, working closely with over 60 partner institutions throughout Europe.
