Machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) are transforming the way
we forecast weather and model Earth systems. With the launch of Destination
Earth’s (DestinE) second phase, there is an increased focus on the use of AI for
enhancing the capabilities of the Digital Twins and Digital Twin Engine. As part
of these efforts, ECMWF offers advanced training in ML and AI, with much more
to come this year!
ECMWF’s online ML courses
Our Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) in Machine Learning in Weather and Climate is a self-paced and fully-online course, guiding you from the basics of machine learning up to practical implementations of ML models in Python. In the three MOOC tiers you will find 17 modules dealing with topics from forecasting and data assimilation to data handling, deep learning, and physics-informed ML. The courses, taught by ECMWF and European experts in machine learning and weather forecasting, feature eLearning modules, videos, podcasts and quizzes, among many other learning materials.
To take the courses, follow the links below. You will need to be registered to ECMWF’s eLearning platform, but you can easily register if you are a new user.

Discover Anemoi
The Anemoi framework is a series of Python packages developed by ECMWF and its member states for building operational AI weather models. ECMWF developed a six-part series of training webinars called Discover Anemoi that uncovers the key components of the Anemoi framework.
