The Weather-Induced Extremes Digital Twin
The Weather-Induced Extremes Digital Twin
The Digital Twin for Weather-Induced Extremes, one of the two high-priority digital twins of Destination Earth, will support decision making for a rapid response to meteorological, hydrological and air quality extremes, on a timescale of a few days ahead. It has two components: a global component, developed at ECMWF; and a regional component, developed by a large consortium of European weather services led by Météo-France. In this video, ECMWF scientist Benoit Vanniere introduces the global component of the Weather-Induced Extremes Digital Twin and its main innovative features, and highlights the necessary developments that have been undertaken.
