The role of data assimilation in DestinE

The Destination Earth information system presents important innovative components and features. Amongst these, the capability of the digital twins to provide detailed information from global to local scale is based on a better observation-simulation fusion, thanks to a process called “data assimilation”. In this video, ECMWF scientist Ziga Zaplotnik explains what this methodology is and details the approach used to develop a more continuous and higher-resolution data assimilation system in DestinE.
