Jenni Kontkanen on the Climate Change Adaptation Digital Twin
In this video, Jenni Kontkanen from CSC – the institution leading the Climate Change Adaptation Digital Twin (Climate DT) – presents the main features and innovations of one of DestinE’s Digital Twins, that supports climate adaptation strategies. Aimed at providing global climate simulations over multiple decades, the Climate DT integrates km-scale Earth system models and impact-sector applications into a unified end-to-end workflow. With flexible workflows and unprecedented spatial resolution, it is also the first attempt to operationalise the production of global, multi-decadal climate projections, leveraging the world-class supercomputing resources of the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking. Currently, the Climate DT brings together 12 leading organisations, including climate research institutes, supercomputing centres, national meteorological services, academia, and industry, led by CSC in close collaboration with ECMWF.
